About My Guitars

Build Philosophy

My build philosophy is rooted in the pursuit of four goals: playability, responsiveness, pitch accuracy and structural stability.

Playability is addressed throughout the build, from the construction, shaping and fitting of the neck to precision fret work and setup.

To achieve the desired responsiveness, care is taken to construct lightweight plates with bracing patterns which evenly distribute the stresses imposed by the string tension. The fundamental resonances of the plates are tuned to achieve the desired level of coupling, without excessive attenuation.

Pitch accuracy is addressed by placing these resonances between scale notes (which reduces the likelihood of dead or “wolf” notes) and by intonating both the nut and the saddle.

Finally, all parts of the guitar whose vibrations are not fundamental to the production of sound, are constructed with the aim of making them as rigid and stable as possible, thereby increasing the structural stability and longevity of the instrument, and minimising the loss of energy through undesirable or unproductive vibrations.

General Model Specifications

Model 1

The Model 1 is a small-bodied, 12-fret guitar with a big voice.

The short 24.625” scale length and compact body create a guitar which is extremely comfortable and easy to play. A 13-fret model with a slightly longer scale length is available to provide extra access to the upper frets, without compromising on the placement of the bridge.

Dimensions

Width of lower bout - 14.7” (373.4mm)
Width at waist - 8.98” (228mm)
Width of upper bout - 10.59” (269mm)
Body length - 18.74” (476mm)
Scale length - 24.625” (625.5mm)
Sound hole diameter - 3.54” (90mm)

Model 2

The Model 2 is a medium-sized, modern acoustic guitar with a 12-fret body join.

The 25” Scale length places the bridge in the optimal location, and the deep cutaway provides access to the full extent of the fingerboard. A 13-fret, 25.5” scale arrangement is also available.

Dimensions

Width of lower bout - 15.5” (394mm)
Width at waist - 9.6” (244mm)
Width of upper bout - 11.55” (292mm)
Body length - 19.74” (501mm)
Scale length - 25” (635mm)
Sound hole diameter - 3.75” (95mm)

Model 3

The Model 3 was designed for those who desire a larger, yet responsive, instrument. It offers the player an ergonomic, modern fingerstyle alternative to the traditional Dreadnought.

The 26” scale length provides additional tension to drive the larger top plate and, together with a 12-fret body join, ensures that the bridge is placed optimally in the centre of the lower bout.

Dimensions

Width of lower bout - 15.91” (404mm)
Width at waist - 9.84” (250mm)
Width of upper bout - 12.13” (308mm)
Body length - 20.28” (515mm)
Scale length - 26” (660.4mm)
Sound hole diameter - 3.94” (100mm)

Features

Standard Features

All guitars come standard with:

  • High gloss polyurethane finish body, Osmo PolyX oiled neck;

  • Structured sides, comprising two layers of wood laminated to full-depth lining core, for greater stability and reduced energy loss;

  • Carbon neck reinforcement rods with a double-action adjustable truss-rod;

  • Carbon-fibre-reinforced sparse-lattice braced top and active back plate.

  • Solid peghead with Gotoh Mini 510 tuning machines;

  • Intonated nut and saddle; and

  • EVO Gold frets.

Standard Aesthetic

The standard aesthetic for my guitars is a paired-down display of the natural beauty of the materials used. Plates are framed in simple purfling and binding motifs and precise joints are left exposed at the tail of the guitar, as well as at the tip of the florentine cutaway.

Custom Features

A variety of ornate aesthetic features can be added to your guitar, in any combination you choose. Each element is discussed, designed and priced individually. Ergonomics can be improved by the addition of a rib bevel and/or arm bevel.
